OK, a bit of a theoretical question this, I'd be interested to see what people say...

You are going to launch a new website in to competitive sector with several high profile sites that have been established for a long time but probably don't do much off-site SEO. The site you are launching is really well optimised for it's on-site side and has lots of new content being added to it regularly.

How would you go about handling the off-site SEO as doing a heap of link building at the beginning is probably not the best idea, so what would you do in the first month, then at the 3 month point and then 6 etc, you get the idea!

    Over to you..

For the first month, I do not do any Off-Site SEO, Just keep adding fresh and unique content everyday.
Second month I go after authority backlinks from .gov or .edu or .org
Then I bookmark on quality social bookmarking sites. stumbleupon ect
I then try to get some good links from other websites in the same sector.
Then article releases, web 2.0 profiles (all with unique content)
After the website has gained some authority then i go after quantity

Consistency is key. Start as you mean to go on. If you do heap linking building just make sure are consistantly building.

Personally I would start of small and increase over time making sure your content is quality.

For new sites I do all the same marketing with about half of the actual links obtained. Then, I gradually work my way up to my normal link volume. I have never had a client's site or one of my sites gets sandboxed so it's safe to safe my method works.
