web site tumb next to title how?

    i see some directories have a tumb next to the title
    how do they do that

    They use some service like MSN live to get the thumbnails.

    You could also use Thumbshots -- www.thumbshots.org . It is quite easy to implement.


    If you do use Girafa I believe you are supposed to use your own account - as Girafa sells thumbnails for more than 4000 thumbnails daily (less than 2000 is free), they may not like you using the MSNSearch one above. Considering they can track all thumbnail requests, most likely not worth it - Sign up and get the 2000 images option for free.

    Also, from my experience, the Girafa domain for some reason is banned by commercial proxies (I think they classify it as a spyware site due to Girafa's toolbar), so anyone viewing your site will not see any images (only the placeholders)

    Theres lots of services, just make sure u dont spell thumbnails tumbnails when looking for them ;)

    thanks i am really not doing a directory.
    i am trying to setup a social networking or bookmarking site but i guess it really don't make much of diffrence
    i was hoping to find some gpl code that would let me do it on my own server but the only one that i have found is for a windows server i will lookinto these sites
