Does getting your website in different languages like french, german, chinese etc. helps? Will it help in getting more traffic?

If yes, how shall I procede for it? I came across http://www.multilingualmarketer.com/ - will it help?

    Suggestions appreciated :)

Multi-language option will IMHO increase your traffic only in case you promote each version (e.g. SEO for KW in another language, PPC for KW in another language, registration in national catalogs...).

Anyway imagine french visitor who is looking for the product you offer. He will visit a few sites and find information about the product. If you website will contain french version you will surely have better chance that he will buy from you.

i think translating your website is a bit overrated. i did it, and many of my users from other countries kept the english settings, as it didn't bother them too much. most web savvy people speak english, whether as a first or second language.

It all depends who your visitor is! I got a webmaster related website, and we all know most webmasters can write/read english! So in my opinion it would not be that helpfull for my website.

BUT if you got a website that sells a certain product, then it would be great if you could give clear information about the product in their own language. I've had this before, I wanted to buy something and saw a website about it in english, didn't buy the product because few words I did not really understand what they meant. If it would be in my foreign language, dutch, then I probably know what they were talking about and buy the freaking product :D

    Just my 2cents.

We had an Italian version of our site for a while, but the problem was keeping it up to date. The other issue was multilingual payments etc., which is not that easy to manage
