Web Server Problems

Discussion in 'Optigold ISP' started by Mia, Aug 15, 2005.

I go through this about every 3 months, then spend the next 3 months trying to figure out the problem. For some reason the web server decideds that it does not want to log into OG on its own anymore. What I mean is if I open up OG, it just opens FM and then puts a silly dialog up that says "Open Optiogld ISP". However clicking that does nothing.

I have no idea what cause this, but when it has happened in the past I have to beat my head against the wall un-installing and installing OG over and over, nuking preferences, you name it. I am not sure what eventually solves that problem, but I have yet again.

So now OG will open, but during the process of logging into the db server the web server pops up the following.

What gives? How can I fix this? I have downloaded the installer and re-intalled it over and over again. Also, how can I keep the web server from freaking out like this in the future?

I am using OS 9.2.2 and FM 5.5 along with OG 3.3.7

That should be okay. If you go to My Stuff -> System Info, what's the SMTP Version listed?

On that screen, are there any lines that are blank (besides PC/Mac Authorize)?

Sorry the SMTP version actually is BLANK on the Web Server under My Stuff, System Info. Also from there down it is all blank starting with "Net Tools Version" and ending with "SQL Version"

I think you might have a version of JavaCompanion that is too new (the newest versions do not support OS9).

And this happens how? The web server was running fine for several months, then it crapped one day. So does this mean it happens every time I upgrade OG? Would reverting to an older version of JC help? I am completley miffed. Everything was working fine, nothing major was changed.

If you do an upgrade on the machine the installer would try to upgrade the plug-ins as well. I would revert the plug-ins if OS9 is your only option.

Will do. Yes, OS9 is the only option since program linking does not work under OSX with all of our servers.

    Thank you.

I'm not sure that is the problem. I have version 2.0.1 which dates back to 2002. Still not having any luck.

Hmmm... to be honest, I'm not sure. I would PM wkw and ask for a OS9 version of the JavaCompanion stuff.

Aside from the problems with the Web Server firing up on its own, now when users log into their accounts they end up in the wrong account? I have to take this thing off line now. Any ideas as to why users are ending up in the wrong account?

I have narrowed this down to the fact that no matter who logs in via the web based billing they all end up at the default (number 1) ie., first account. Help...

I believe I solved the problem. I simply took the entire FileMaker Java Extensions and FileMaker Extensions folders from my DB server and transplanted duplicates of them on the web server. All seems normal again.

    Thanx!

Any timeline on the MySQL version yet?
