web safe colors still important?

I'm just wondering if using web safe colors in my web designs are still important. I mean, now days our browsers can display any of the 256 colors, right? so why do we still need to use web safe colors? I hate worrying whether my background color is going to match the background color I used in the graphics for my site. I'm fairly certain I don't need to worry about this anymore though. any thoughts?

Probably not an issue. An overwhelming number of browsers/video cards support 16M colors.

    cheers,

You don't really need to worry about web safe colors anymore. That's a thing of the past for sure.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about them much unless you are specificly asked by a client to use them.
