What is the web page title limit (in characters)? Including me different people have different openions like 60, 65, 70 or 90 characters and some people says its unlimited. In Google serps its doesn't looks fixed, they shows between 60 to 70 characters for the websites that has long title. Previously IE shows only starting 60 characters of title which is now increased to 90 characters while FireFox shows up to 150 characters. This is what I observed, please share your thoughts.
I would rather get interested into "How much characters search engines read" instead of how much characters browser do display. The ideal of character strength for title tag is 60-80, i would rather use less character with targeting keywords to increase the % of the keywords in the title.
I always go for 60-70 characters and try to use main keywords at the beginnings to follow keywords prominency. if possible than ignore use of this, the, and, or such type of keywords.
I use up to 80 sometimes, because Yahoo displays a longer title...but put your important keywords in the first 40 characters
i try to keep it at maximum 60 characters but can go over - this hasn't been a problem on My Travel Directory when going over. .
just keep it short (around 60 chars) and make sure you have your keywords upfront. if you wanna show your site name, put it at the last few words. (seldom got anyone will search for the name except it's a common words.)
Google and MSN show the 1st 67 characters, Yahoo 150, Never go for more then 150, I like to keep them at less then 67.
