Web page content vs. Blog content

    Hello,

I have been reading a lot about how a blog can effect your site's search value. I recently have added a blog to my business web site however I am wondering what content should go on the blog.

Should I just copy some of the already existing texts off my main web page and post that data into my blog or should my blog content be unique?

I am worried that If I have duplicate content on my site, SEs will think I'm spamming.

Also, would it be wise to have some of my blog posts syndicated on my main index.html page to provide fresh content? Wouldn't this count as duplication as well?

Don't copy the content, just talk about the company instead - what you're doing and stuff like that. You coudl also talk about what's going on in the industry as well (to help people perceive you as an expert in the industry). The sky's the limit, really. Also bear in mind that as far as the search engines are concerned, there is NO difference between a blog and a regular Web page/site.

Thank you Dan! We have the same name lol.

I am aware that a blog page and a web page are considered the same thing I was just differentiating (can't believe I spelled that right on the first time) between the two entities of my web site.

Tell that to everyone else on this forum. A lot of people here think that blogs have special SEO powers. :(
