Web link directory submission questions!

Here, I would like to raise some questions on how to increase web link directory submission efficiency and exchange practices. What incoming link building techniques do you use in practice? Do you prefer manual or automatic submission? What directories do you submit websites to? Paid or free and why? As for me, I suggest the special attention should be paid on description when submitting website to directories! Different website descriptions should be used for each directory. Don’t use the same description for several directories! Search engines can accept it as duplicate content and incoming link will have no value! For this reason I do manual submission only. Also I think it is expedient to perform directory on regular basis! If you can add something or share your practical experience are welcome to go on this post!

Offcourse manual submission is the way to do it, and why to pay when you get listings for free?. Just remember to use various titles and descriptions everytime :)

Directory submission is best its no matter rather its free or paid. If you are paying then just keep in mind the directory is good pr with quality content and have similar categories as of your website content. Automatic submission is untrustworthy source you does not know where things going. You should give proper anchor text according to your website and of the keywords you are behind . instead of using different description for your web site use different anchor text like use random keyword in meta tags of your website for anchor text. But as a SEO i think getting link or exchanging links with similar website that have same services or business is much more better .

Take a look through Yahoo Site Explorer a couple months after you've made your submissions. You can see the most powerful links at the top and then you'll know the directories you should focus on in the future.

Automatic submission might be considered as spam, the manual not. Free directories are cheap, but payd offer more exposure.

Also, I think it is better to use different website description for each directory! Of course, it takes more time, nevertheless all incoming links are taken into account by search engines! If the same website description is used for several directories this can be considered as spam and incoming links will not be taken into account in such a way. What do you think about this?
