There are tons of threads about this :) go daddy or hostgator. It depends on what you're looking for as different hosts are best for different needs.

By far, I recommend www.liquidweb.com -- they have been amazing to me.

I have 2 dedicated servers with them.

For shared hosting, hostgator, use somebody with cPanel. Dont use godaddys with their stupid control panel.

There are still many good hosting providers available but a lot depends on your hosting requirements like the type of account, managed or unmanaged service, payment gateway, uptime, mode of support you would prefer etc.

Finally your own experience would help you to decide which is the best hosting company for you.

For the love of anything holy, do NOT use hostgator or godaddy. Search the web for hostgator + scam and read up.

LOL...negative feedback for HG is like a speck of dust from a room.
Most unsatisifed customers in the hosting industry arise due to their own idiocy ;)

I live about 2 miles from a new call center for Hostgator. They were hiring like crazy now they are in the process of getting rid of all the good people. I know someone who works there and he claims that he would not get a server there.

I use server pronto. They are not the best, but they sure are cheap. They generally take care of all my problems. They also have a huge list of different OSes you can choose from.

ServerPronto...huh? Lots of hidden charges and I'd better stay away from such companies.
