I absolutely agree with you, puramix. It is not good. So why we do that?

Some percentage of the clients change web hosts like tourists change their holiday destinations. But these "web hosting tourists" want "travel" for free. Well, we offer unconditional one month money back guarantee so if somebody wants to try us for a month with no risk he can do it. But some people sign up without an intension to stay with us and try to have hosted their website for free as long as possible. So they simply after two months with us make a chargeback without any notice. We simply cannot to pay commission for these "clients" (if we did that every cheater would be able to ask all his friends to sign up through his affiliate link, collect a lot of commissions and then instruct his friends to make chargebacks).

Well, if you have any suggestions how to avoid this problem feel free to post them. However, it seems this is the best way how to make sure that our affiliate program stays scam-free.

Puramix, it seems that we are not understanding each other. There are no companies which support chargeback. Nobody supports chargeback

You probably mean money-back guarantee, right? Sure, we offer money-back guarantee for 30 days. If the client is not satisfied, he can simply cancel the web hosting account and he will get the money back.

Chargeback is something different. If somebody steals your credit card and makes some transactions using the card, you can simply tell your bank to cancel these transactions so you get your money back. So the bank will make a chargeback in order to protect you. But if somebody orders a hosting package, uses it for 2 months and then goes to the bank and makes a chargeback it is obvious scam.

 

All affiliate programs support charge backs - they have no choice whatsoever as this is the agreement they have to agree to when accepting payments by card. Visa and mastercard ALWAYS allow chargebacks to me made.

yes, we were considering this option. When we have checked out some of the affiliate networks we found out that some features we were looking for nobody offers so we decided for in-house affiliate program. The coding part was not difficult and since we save money which we would pay to the affiliate network for every transaction we can offer higher commissions to our affiliates.

not sure if we understand each other. I agree with you that client can make a chargeback and merchants can nothing to do with that (not only web hosts, but every company accepting credit cards).

What am I talking about is the behavior of some "clients" who want professional web hosting for free. They order a web hosting plan and later talk to their credit card company and claim that the service has not been provided make a chargeback.
