Hi, we've been going for a while now, but this is the latest design. It's Web 2.0 style all hand coded. Please notice the AJAX lightboxes on the images. The Support/Billing section is still under progress so the links dont work.

Anyway, take a look and give me your opinions, cheers.

I think thats more likely to do with internet connections/apache than design. Thanks though.

Edit:Hmm there seems to be an apache issue, typical.

    Suggestions:

I would center the whole layout
I'd also round the buttons on top
I would redo the header design to something with a clean gradient and gloss ;) (which is very web 2.0)

Yeah, it does need centering for those of you who are viewing at really high res, i've been doing most of it on an older laptop which can only go up to 1024x.

Maybe, I will. I'm getting pretty good at 3d so I may re-design the logo in Cinema 4D. I was going to round the buttons, but the CSS was annoying me so I moved on, I want to use as few images as possible and make use of CSS.

Thanks for the helpfull feedback, someone on another forum told me to lose the bottom section, change the logo (because it looked old, apparently) take out the AJAX because it was slow and remove the patterns. Lol, madness.

The patterns for the background is nice, I'd keep that :)

But yes, if you did create a nice 3D logo (even if its just a 3D text) it would make the site much much nicer!

ok here is my review on your website not a very good one but its a honest one.

you site looks good but not for a professional hosting company, if i was buying hosting i would be put off your site as it looks a bit too much and its pretty much in your face espically your logo (value-hosting)

alot off customers hate compaines that are overselling on there server's, this shows that servers are over crowded and have a higher risk off crashing or being hacked.

only idots buy into umetered bandwidth and it doesnt exist, would you be happy for me to use over 3tb per month? i dont think so deffiantly not for $8.99 per month,

when i click on shared hosting and reseller hosting i only see 1 package i would recommend creating several packages to suit most off your customers needs eg:

    package 1:
    100mb space
    1gb bandwidth
    10 emails account
    1 ftp account
    2 mysql's
    cpanel

    package 2:
    300mb space
    2gb bandwidth
    20 emails accounts
    5 ftp accounts
    5 mysql's
    cpanel

also you are offering free hosting - i wouldnt recommend it you either offer one or the other not both, alot off people only want to free hosting account for illgeal reason's eg storing mp3's or movies, try to hack your server, upload dangerous scripts, or phinishing sites etc. plus knowning that you have a free hosting accounts on your server would put me off aswell.

also you have links to other websites, once again it looks unprofessional unless theyre actually hosting related or something to do with your site, i would recommend you remove them.

so i think that sort off sums it up

Well thanks a lot for you expert review. I actually state that we dont oversell quite clearly. The site is actually called valve-hosting and we/I belive the bottom section adds background and is in fact unique content.

Free hosting is on a seperate server and our site is more secure than most others. I was asking for opinions on design not to be lectured in the Hosting business which you belive you knwo so much about.

Unmetered bandwidth does exist as well. If you have a dediacted line you can use as much as you want. We have a fair usage policy. Why not actually look at the wikipidea links cited and maybe you'll learn something.

We host over 40 paying customers and at one point 200 free accounts. The accounts are upgradable. We host a lot of PR4+ sites as well. I find your attitude confusing.

I've also made over $50 in link sales today, after all it's a business it's there to make money and it is, thanks.

Why not look at this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=280505

the bottom section is unprofessional fair enough it makes you money, but i bet it puts more people off and in the long run it could make you lose protential customers

if your offering the free hosting i would recommend you state on your website some where that its not on the same servers are paying customers

sever's are sold with a umetered line not bandwidth. all umetered lines are restricted eg 10mb line is restricted to 2000GB-3000GB bandwidth per month in both outbound and inbound directions

a fair usage policy is only a way to save yourself, what is considered fair usage? if you have unmetered line with unlimited bandwdith then why have one?

ok you made $50 but thats it its not recurring income its just a one off fee

Argghh, we have 46 customers and more interested. I asked for a design opinion not to have your views forced on me as gospel.:p

    Hello,

I think your site looks quite nice, I agree on the centralised content on the page, just looks so much nicer for users.

I don't quite understand why you have two sets of buttons at the top of the page? By clicking on them, it looks like the second, smaller row is for your users as you are prompted with a windows type login - however you just have to click "Cancel" and you are taken to a page and asked for a login directly through the webpage itself.

A couple of little issues, which are probably just because you are still working on the site:

1). Clicking on buttons on the second row of buttons tries to take you to a secure page, but it says the certificate is invalid - won't look good of course, especially if you are hoping for people to pay online through your site at some point....
2). If you click on VPS on the top row of buttons, you are taken to a directory view of your site with the CGI-BIN directory etc......
3). You might want to put a more relavent name to your site in the "title" tag rather than "Home" for Google?
4). The logo seems very large currently, why not have it blend into the background that you are using behind your products? It's even larger (in its appearance on other pages).
5). There are quite a few broken links currently, but I am sure as I stated above that this is something that is just whilst you are designing the site.

    The good stuff:
1). I think the colours and fonts look nice.
2). The way the images pop up and make the background all dark looks very swish, like that a lot ;)
    3). It's easy to read.
4). It's clear what you get with each service - prices are clear etc..... that's always a big plus point for me, I hate having to dig for prices

And on a slightly different note, I am writing articles on website design etc, so if you would like a link exchange, please PM me....

I hope that is ok, sorry there were a few negative bits there, I think the site is really nice and I wish you all the best - keep up the good work!

    Two of you points.

Redirects to log in: Yes thars because that the button yould press to log into cpanel. THe SSL is shared and thats what all shared ssl say, sadl. Spry.com have the same problem

Redirects to CGI: Nope that =s just the public html folder for an empty subdomain eg Support.valve-hosting.com

The logo is being replaced. Thanks for your time though ;)

Replaced now? if yes, I don't like it (looks like heavy compressed jpg, maybe it isn't but it looks in that way). I don't like the buttons too. The general design is to rework (very long scrolling, etc...).

Why I don't like the buttons? They are made by 5 old kid. The site is so poor that there is not much to feedback... Don't you like it? Forget it.

Ok mate, whatever. Its pretty odd its going to be listed on http://www.cssremix.com I gave you bad rep because you deserve it.

I must say your site is very impressive, non xhtml, no css and tables, its so ugly I find it hard to understand why you feel you can slate my work.

    http://www.nusic.pl/

LMAO, your other site is down as well, get a life. I'm going to share this thread and see who else gives you bad rep.

Nobody asked you for your opinion.

You asked for feedback, and you have got it. You can't accept someone's else personal opinion? That's your problem. EOT.

That is not an opinion, its an insult. Furthermore, you need to back an opinion with facts, which you cant can you because you can even create a vaugley decent layout, let alone anything else.

I am free to give my opinion, and as such it wasn't an opinion it was a statement of fact

    These are facts not opinions.
