Web Hosting SCAMS on DP

I have tried several of these DP offers before, buyers beware..

** Always thoroughly research for how long have they been operating and if they truly have good uptime. Many of these services, besides cheap, have very poor uptime record.. Beware..

** See if there is more than one person on show, to contact, if anything goes wrong. When that "one man" gets busy personally or anything, he wouldn't take the business seriously.

** See for good reviews in public, like in DP forum, BUT... some of the sellers do not refund despite they say you get a satisfaction guarantee. Be sure to check this out..

I was scammed by a low ball company called SameerHosting before, thats why I am posting here. You can read more of that story on my sig..

    Hope this helps..

It's greed! If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. $10 for a year? Ha!

    Well said blacksurfer.

Before buying a hosting, ask a question, If I am a host can I offer this plan for this price?

Unbelievable, but you are spot on! A guy scammed me once, called Jordan McKeag, was running Sameer Hosting and was just 15 years old..

Scammed many people, got the money, and now the company is closed... Many people lost money, but I hit his scam by another scam to recover my money - lol. There is an interesting story on my sig if you want - a dirty trick that I used to recover my funds, but because I was scammed, I didn't feel guilty!

The only person you can blame is yourself.

"If it is too good to be true, then it is"

    Its that simple.

that company has pissed a lot of people off - that guy is said to be opening another host (don't remember the name) so he's probably looking to scam a few more people.

there is a huge thread about it on WHT the last time I was there. horrible stuff.

Don't always go by the price. Many hosts here offer "unlimited" deals for $10 a year and to be honest, you won't get a good service with them. There are many on here, like us who offer reliable hosting.

Buying hosting is like buying a used car, you got to check service history (whodatis.com), you got to research their website, typos and dead links are the best notifications as they want to make cash fast.

nightcoder is correct. Also, the best way is to ask around like this in dp and wht forums. ayou will get a good review of the host that way.

The best way to know if a web host is real or not is to check for a terms of service and a real site. If it is a good host they won't just have WHMCS up as the site and they will have a clear terms of service available to read.

Don't forget unlimited / unmetered space is impossible, but unmetered bandwidth isn't.

Be smart everyone. Don't fall for packages that say unlimited bandwidth or unlimited space for $10 a year or even $30 a year because these host will just have a lot of downtime and then disappear.

Never trust 1 month old company use who.is/hostingdomains.com
    Then never go to Unmetered/Unlimited.

WebHostingTalk is a much better resource for web hosting anyways. Their boards are much more strict with less scammers running about.
