Web Host telling me how to run my site.

I find it hilarious that my web hosting company is trying to tell me how to run my business. My forum had 22 articles that where spam so my provider decides to take down my site. They also warn me to keep a better eye on it. 22 articles that where spam and my site is brought down. I wrote them a nasty letter telling them that I hired them to provide hosting and not to consult me on how to run my business. Needless to say I will now have to find a new hosting company. Web Hosting Company telling me how to run my business. Right. Since when do web hosting companies think they can run ones business? Especially when they can't run there own. This started because I told them my sites where running very slow. So they blamed my site (one of them) for the problem. I could see how that would be a problem if it had thousands but 22 articles. I just don't buy it.

If your forum is spamming, I think it is perfectly naturally that your web host should warn you to stop the spam

well if the spam is a breach of their TOS (such as porn or whatever) then they have the right to and I think they did what was right.

Yes, just wondering why you keep remain there spam posts? The spam links may put bad affect in neighborhood if yours is in shared hosting environment that is the reason you might have received their warning.

Although I agree with them about the spam there is no reason they should have brought my site down. They claimed they just changed the password to the database so my site was never brought down just that I need to change the password to the database. First of all they are a hosting company not a business consulting company. If they where thousands of spammers then I would have to agree with them but 22 spams then you should all worry. If there just that amount that means I am taking care of the spammers. I doubt anybody can eliminate spam including them. As long as I'm doing something about it. Then they should mind there own business and let me run mine.

If the forum that is receiving the spam is http://iforumpage.com/ I could see why it got suspended. Some of those posts link to password sites other to download copyrighted material. If they received complaints from their upstream provider and they were threatened to be taken down I could see why they would take your site down.

What you really should do is look at installing things to combat the amount of spam you receive. Installing mods for phpbb that have improved captcha and things of that nature.

What was the web site name just curious. It has to be due to your forum sending our unsolicted emails ? I can't see a legitimate hosting provider shutting you down without good merrit.

Actually it had to do with an over zealous administrator. That wanted to look good in front of his boss. I guess it back fired because I received an apology from them. I still don't like the idea that one zealous individual can do this to my site but at least they took care of the problem. I on the other hand have to take care of the spammers. Which are starting to get on my nervous. Anybody want to be moderators. LOL
