    Niche or General that is the million dollar question
    My opinion if you are making a new domain go for general
    For niche use a sub dir or a sub-page
    It costs a loot to link build so better to leverage the links you already have
    On an economical level general get more submissions, but you can charge more on niche.

    I think that it's also important to consider that if you are an owner of a niche directory then you also need to be some kind of professional or be somehow involved in this niche. IMO people frequently oversee this factor.

    Go for a niche in a big market. Maybe casino blogs, bodybuilding, sports.

    Those all encompassing directories are on the way out I feel - especially with the recent google slaps.
