    interesting piece of experimentation. this only confirms what we've been thinking all along though - directory submissions are by far not the fastest nor the best method to gain PR and traffic. we routinely go from zero to 1000+ unique visitors/day within one month of launching a new site - with no directory submissions. you just have to build a different kind of site, with lots of deep pages, aiming for longtail traffic right away.

    Thanks for sharing your experience. Like others i was also thinking that may be after updation in Panda, directory submission is of no use. But your experiment is telling some different story.

    That's very interesting, Torafox. I'd love to know how you can get more than 1000 visitors in a month. Is it really that easy? I am sure it must depend on the field you are working in. I run a translation website and there is not as much natural interest among the common people to search for these terms.

    Nice experiment, thanks for sharing. I wonder if some of the directories hurt ranking, shame google doesn't give us more insight.
