I made this question in the Directories Forum and no one could reply me so here goes straight to the experts.

I've started doing some research on Web Directories and Analyzing their business models. And I noticed that websites like Blogcatalog request from users that do not want to pay for their services or that they do not want to paste a reciprocal link., to paste a Meta Tag in their

This made me think, if through these Blog Catalog tells the Crawler about his presence and connection with the Blog, so as to get indexed as well in that category.. resulting in better SERP results for them = more exposure = money.

Is that a wrong assumption?, any experts reply on directories will be more than appreciated.

Update: Yesterday I submitted my blog to these service and today when I checked my SERPS for all the tags written about my blog in there the organic results set priority to BlogCatalog even before my Blog which has all the extended info.

Help on this will be much appreciated, maybe is a start for something hidden until now... who knows?
