Hi there, would like to ask what would be considered as "standard pricing" for a PR3, PR4 and a PR5 web directory respectively? I ask because after the next PR update, I might consider turning my free web directory in a paid one and increase the price of my current paid directory if and when it goes to PR5
Its not fixed at all, no standard criteria though But you can expect : PR3 - $5 PR4 - $10 PR5 - $15 etc..
Agree with MeetHere no set prices but you cannot charge and expect to get reviews irrespective of the price you charge Unless you Market and Support your Directory but I am sure most folks know that anyway
Along with the PR, the quality of your directory will also matter But for my free web directory, a PR 4 i charge a 10$ featured links and a 2.99$ quick 48 hrs review links I have a new directory, a PR 0 that is charging a 15$ and a 35$ listing as i plan to promote it the best. So, in my case the PR would not matter as i donot plan to change the pricing even if the PR increases I would suggest that you plan a pricing structure in term of the promotion you plan to do for your dir Else, if you just plan to sell links on a good PR dir, i would set the standard to PR3 - 5 $ PR4 - 5 $ PR5 - 10$ All permanent one time payment link
yes for directories with active PR not dropped domains with PR, which I think his talking about. @thread starter: if these are directories on dropped domains with PR you are referring to, then go away QBC newbie
No set prices. It all depends on what investment you are making, how you work on your directory, your backlinks, your PR and a lot of other factors. Again if you are offering deep links the pricing goes up. Hence its best to provide different submission levels to the general submitter, let him look out whats in his budget and submit.
Thanks for the replies, guys. @Sasa: LOL, I am not a QBC. I have built all my directories right from scratch (see the ones in my sig), with the exception of Mishre Directory which I bought the domain with a PR3 because I really like the name. Anyway, here is another question that has been playing around in my mind for some time but never asked. What is the difference between a "premium paid' directory and a "paid" directory? I don't really see any difference, after all a "paid directory" is...well, a "paid" one, right? And does my directory qualify as a "premium paid" directory?
Depends on the work you put on your directory and the services provided. You could charge 10$ for PR 5 with no inner PR and again 25$ for PR 5 homepage with PR 4 category pages... Try to set up a price that matches the value of your services.
I agree with that. My Paid Directory has PR0 and charging $25 for featured links, and already got enough submissions for a new directory. Pay to promote and charge more.
Here are examples of Premium Paid Directory - Directory Dump, Alive, Aviva, Forplex, Ask, Gii, Ewebpages, Dirspace, Dirsensei and a hell lot of others. Why premium ? check their backlinks, promotion behind it, exclusively designed template, and a lot more! Paid Directory - The Directory which is not free. Premium Paid Directory - One step ahead paid directory, everyone creates a paid directory any tom dick and harry can make a paid directory. But to become a Premium Paid - You need good promotion, quality, PR, and many more factors. I hope you getting the difference.
Hi, is there any manuals to start a good directory business on the net ? ebook or videos...highly seek and appreciated for beginners to learn and earn online... well, i know a few DP members who quit their 24/7 job and just focus on directory business lol, earning up to $5 k and above per month... that's without selling ebooks, adsense or stuff like that that involved lots of aspect...hehe he just maintain the link, check for any broken one, update design and promote...the directory... they say : "I don't skate to where the puck is I skate to where the puck is going to be."
it doesn't depend on how much investment you make for your directory, it depends on how visible your investment is to those who submit.
i think there is some kind of standard but it is based on many parameters and not just pagerank. So within a PR6 list of directories, u have varying prices due to the various backlinks, quality of backlinks, etc. That's why u have different prices for the same PR. But if u compare sites with the same amount of 'strength', generally, the prices do not deviate too much.... *from my personal research
