Web Directories - 3800 Directory Listings - Completely Upgraded and Updated

I have just completed a couple of rounds of work on Web-Directories.ws.

1. 
   I upgraded the PHPLD software to the latest version. That solved some of the paging issues that the site had in the past. You can easily sort alphabetically.
2. The directory now has over 3800 listings. The general directory category has 1000 free and 1000 paid listings.
3. The quality of the listings is better than it has ever been. I have attacked the list from all angles and updated the dead directories or the free directories that have changed to paid/recip. PR is comletely up-to-date.
4. The listings have comments that will allow you to decide if you want to submit to it. For example, notes are included if a directory uses "nofollow" links, uses redirect links, has a bunch of directories stored on the same IP, not accepting free submissions, submission process not functioning...
5. I have spent more time developing the niche and regional listings.

Directories are a great way of getting backlinks. I hope that you make Web Directories your first stop whenever you are researching directories. Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks. I am glad you enjoy the list. You have no idea how time consuming it is. I have 1000 free directories listed and some of them are turning paid as I type this.

I see people starting directories of directories every day. My advice to them is "Don't do it".

Thanks I appreciate the input but I can't see nofollows in the directories category.

 

hmmm im using the firefox tool and they are showing pink which means they are using no follow attributes. i have also checked other pages and only the web directories is doing this in other words they dont want to give links to other directories. I have also tried with the IE tool i have and i get the same...

I checked it again. I also have the pink firefox tool. I checked another site and the tool is working.

I also checked the source code and I didn't see any nofollows

well its their and pink as hell. If you look at the link in the quote it will show.
Now this other link you got for them does not have any.
I dont know then maybe its just my tool that sees this ???

It has taken quite a while. I started back in January by adding the 900 directories from Best Web Directories. I have researched and added about two thirds fo the sites myself. I just stopped to figure it out, 3850 directories / 300 days is about 13 directories a day (working 7 days a week without holidays).

But that's the easy part. The tough part is keeping up with all the changes. I probably deleted 300 sites that were no longer appropriate and don't get me started on all the free directories that turn paid.

 

I would like to thanks my fellow canuck for this great resource. If you're using the service I would suggest adding to his rep.

Again thanks for all the work on the list. I can't even keep up with all the new ones posted here!
