I'm thinking about enrolling in a web development course online to get a BS in information technology/web development. I would like to work as an internet marketing manager/web manager for a brick and mortar company. Anyone have any experience with online degrees? Just looking for a little advice.

    Thanks...

Well, let me just be honest because I've been thinking about it myself. If they put your degree next to someone that has a degree from a university, you will likely be behind them assuming you have the same credentials in other areas.

However, you will be ahead of the curve of those that have nothing. I would say an online degree is equivilent to 2-3 years of working experience.

Honestly, start reading. Get books on everything from marketing to php to graphic design.

No online program will teach you as fast as you can teach yourself if you are dedicated and truly interested in the field.

Wouldn't it look better to potential employers if you've have a BS in Information Technology to show them? And Ive been looking on Monster.com and all of the internet marketing jobs require a degree in a related field.
