Web developer resoponsibilities?

    I want to know what are the responsibilities of a web developer and what should a web developer know beside from xhtml and css.

    Probably PHP & MYSQL are going to be very important. You may want to look into a few microsoft languages too.

    Other than whats been noted so far I would say javascript is a very good tool to have.

    i think you're confusing a developer with a designer. a designer's primary tools are going to be html/css and photoshop/flash. developers tend to be a bit geekier and technical, understanding technologies such as php/mysql, asp and have a better grasp of server configurations and so forth. both highly skilled roles that require years of practice to reach anything like a professional level.
