I hope this is the right forum to post this in I just got started on a new project today, its a web development search engine. I figured the best place to start would be the DP community, so if you have a site that is related to web development and would like it to be added to our index, simply reply with a link and a short description of your site. Thanks! http://www.web-dev-search.com/
The sites that have been crawled are listed below for searching purposes if that's what you mean. I wouldn't say its a directory as there are only a few catagories, just classifying the sites.
I am sure the members will want to know more about the submission process and how the spider picks up content, is there a submission form for URL's
Currently there is no submission form, I want to keep all the content in the search engine as relevant as possible and prevent spam from being submitted. The spider reads through pages like a user would, following links on the sites, and all along the way caching text and titles to be shown in searches later.
So would you list the search engine and directories page in my signature or does it have to be a web development page?
Any site will be considered, as long as it has some good content related to web development. Here is a list of sites spidered so far: http://www.alistapart.com/ http://blog.codingforums.com/ http://www.joshmountain.com/ http://thirdsquare.com/ http://www.zeldman.com/dwws/
