Greetings to fellow web designers here at DP, before i proceed with my major point i would like to ask the following questions to fellow web designers. 1. Was is it really very easy to be a web designer? 2. Did you just wake up one day and started designing websites? 3. Did you just become a web designer for the love of it or just to make money with it? 4. Is web designing some static knowledge or something constantly changing? 5. As a web designer would you give your best when designing for any client or just some chosen clients? Recently i have been seriously angered by the way people see web designing and programming outside our world. It has become some sort of cheap knowledge to some people because we tend to go so low to accept any amount of money from clients while the clients expects the best from us but not actually paying for the best. I mean that this is a knowledge we gained with serious determination and sometimes sitting up late nights with painful backs and necks just to learn one code or the other. This is a knowledge we gained through interacting in places like DP, practicing daily, spending money on softwares and training . This is a knowledge we constantly need to spend time and money updating. Why then should we not tell clients that we did not just pluck it from an apple tree. I mean we should be considerate to clients but lets not forget that its in our hands to give the clients a tool that will better their businesses and as such they must be considerate when soliciting our services . We might think that everybody is advanced in web creation or using the net just because we hang out in forums like DP and other similar forums where you meet fellow kings of the net like you. Well the truth is that we are just few who really knows what the net is all about, we are just few who knows what to do with a website when its created. We are many who chat online and check emails, we are many who use search engines to get information. But we are still few with great knowledge like you see here at DP. BE PROUD AND TELL PEOPLE THAT IT WAS NO EASY RIDE AND STILL NOT AN EASY ONE AHEAD IN OUR FAST CHANGING NET.IF THEY DOUBT, LET THEM TRY AND AFTER TRYING , THEY WILL AGREE WITH US IF THEY DONT SUCCEED OR THEY WILL BE LIKE US "PROUD" IF THEY SUCCEED.
1. No! It tires you like hell. You have to work under constant pressure. 2. No! I spent 3+1 valuable years learning web design, web2.0 styling and Search Engine Optimization. 3. I love designing websites as much as i love the money involved ! 4. Web standards are improving and getting tougher every passing day. The work goes tougher. 5. I try to give my best to only those clients who have patience to wait for me to come up with an idea. That's it. And for a quick introduction, I am Arun Pattnaik, a freelance web and graphic designer from Bhubaneswar, India.
Good to hear my same sentiments from other web designers, mds. No, it wasn't easy to learn all the new languages, software etc, let alone keep up with it on a daily basis. It takes creativity, diligence and hard work, and we shouldn't cheapen ourselves, by charging less. That being said, I wouldn't want to do anything else because most of the time its fun. Enjoying what your doing is most important.
Amen thats what I'm talking about I'm not going to answer the questions but we did work hard and i will read this to all my clients and when i put up my site this will be on there thank you for the inspiration.
1. Was is it really very easy to be a web designer? The design part, yes, the coding part took time to understand 2. Did you just wake up one day and started designing websites? TBH yes, i started doing the design after i realised there is more to graphic art then forum signatures, coding, of course not. 3. Did you just become a web designer for the love of it or just to make money with it? both, i love doing it, and also love the money (if i get it <_< ) 4. Is web designing some static knowledge or something constantly changing? changing of course. 5. As a web designer would you give your best when designing for any client or just some chosen clients? Depends on how much they pay, and how long they give me to do it, if someone's paying $20 for some website, i'll give them their money's worth
