This may be a clash in terminology in some peoples books, but my question to you is; what do you consider yourself - a Web Designer or Webmaster? Why?

In my books, a Web Designer is a person who designs and puts together the design in code and a Webmaster is a person who runs websites. What do you think?

The way I see it...Web Designer is all about the layout, Webmaster is all about the content

Yeah, Web Designers do the designing part, putting logo, making tables, creating pages, color combinations...overall web designer's job is how to make a website beautiful..

Webmaster does the tricky part, contents, SEO, participates in forums, blogs, social networking websites.. all for promotional campaign of a website..and maybe more..

    I hope I am right.... :D

It's much more work this way but at least I can be fully pleased :)

Web designers & Web Masters both have an equally difficult job. Web designing need designing skills all that is in the site layouts and content and webmaster has to concentrate mostly on traffic and establishing! Am I right?

Well I'm both, I do some web design work but most of my stuff revolves around webmastering (is that even a word?! :p) - making coding changes and updating back end stuff

    I'm both :D

u see webdesigner does website designs, codings and blah blah blah...

webmaster is someone who manages a website...the design can come from anywhere else...or they can just use a premade script or template...

In my opinion the person should be a master of 1 field either he is a designer or web master but he must have knowledge of related fields.

    kindest.

    IMHO,

Webmaster -> Develops content and Administers a website. More on the managerial side. [Business]
Web Designer -> Designs the actual site and page layouts. [Creative]
Web Developer -> Programs and codes the webpages and back-end scripts. [Logic]

I'm a bit of both : Webmaster and Web Developer.
Not good at designing, though. :)
