this dream weaver seems hard. I cant figure out to insert , move and resize images and text. I must be missing something. Or maybe because its the trial version? I used a template and I can't adjust sizes of stuff.

Hadn't seen notepad++ Thanks, I will check it out.
I've been using Scite, looks like they are cousins of some sort. Now if I could find a great tutorial for either of these. . .It works for me, but there are many features I could use to do things faster if I just knew how to use the program better.

Arguably the best Open Source (Free) software for building webs is Komposer which you can find at Sourceforge net

My most favorite web design software is Dreamweaver

Easy to use, rapid web application development, integrates with many different languages and provides remarkable outcome.

You can give NVU a try - its free and is very popular. Also, on October 9th, look for the launch of Site Rubix, which uses a drag and drop interface and will make web design very easy.

On my trainings I always say people - the best way to understand something is to understand it inside
So, only simple text editor - the best way to start! Then text editors with code highlighting, I use Zend Studio

I'd start out with the trial versions of Dreamweaver and Expression Web. Or just learn how to hand code everything and use notepad =D

I tried the dreamweaver, but it seemed hard. Is there a limit to what you can do with trial version. I used one of the templates they have and I can not figure out how to move and resize the text boxes

You could use only a notepad to make a good HTML and CSS code.

i highly suggest PHP Designer. I have been using it for several years now and i love it. it has syntax and everything for you. it is a great alternative than dreamweaver. i have used dreamweaver and i actually like phpdesigner over dreamweaver. plus... you cant go wrong with something free ;-)
