Why waste hours? I just use the free website tonight credit that comes with every domain purchse at hostnhub.
You can build a website with no experience at all. You can build from scratch or or have a completely built site and edit a few lines. You can even add a flash intro with music if you want. Easy as taking candy from a baby. You can check the features under the build a website header. If you don't have alot of time it sure is nice. Long gone are the hours I spent with plesk* building a website. Each to their own of course.

 

I use Photoshop to design the layout, then I create separate images (not through slicing!) and code it together using Dreamweaver. Why Dreamweaver? For the split code and view, it saves time. I do use Notepad++ for quick edits though.

 

That is what I have been using and so far I am glad that I did. DREAMWEAVER.

 

Well, enjoy your absurdly undersized fixed metric fonts that are an accessibility /FAIL/, non-semantic markup, invalid forms, 754 validation errors meaning it's not even HTML but total *** gibberish - likely a contributor to my seeing a different broken layout in every browser, use of framesets like it was still 1997, inlined CSS and scripting meaning that any of their sites are likely using twenty to thirty times more bandwidth than necessary, non-semantic markup flushing any sort of chance at SEO down the shitter, tables for layout, javascript doing CSS' job and 159k of markup to deliver 4.5k of actual page content.

... and that's just their home page. I really pity the suckers DUMB ENOUGH to use crap like that.

And its comments like that why I don't waste much time on this kiddies site. My 2 linked sites were built in an hour, are a few days old and rank first page in google search out of millions of results. I know nothing about SEO. If you do not know what IQ stands for them I pity you.

I Learnt HTML, CSS and Photoshop, I use notepad ++ for coding websites and customising Wordpress templates... for landing pages I use NVU.

 

Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 and notepad.

I use "Dreamweaver"... it's perfect.

 

They sound too German and gutteral.

Take another look at Ds' comments. That code is terrible (I guess I can say you're on the right track as far as, it's not in a table). Great, you can get robots to your site. Too bad they don't actually read content or buy things. Why make people like me spend more time loading over-bloated code when your sites can run faster, better, and more accessibly (ie reach more people) with some leaner code?

Good lord, hasn't anyone gotten through to you what a BAD IDEA that's been for 10 years now?? Flash intro?? Music?? You really really really hate your visitors, don't you?

And encouraging other people to use a system that produces this type of code is a terrible thing to do. Don't encourage people to invest in Yugos. It's bad karma.

 

Yeah, aren't splash pages and auto-playing music usually in the top five of most "top ten lists of web design dont's"?

Especially when it likely ends up costing somebody along the way more in hosting, will hurt you in the long term since you'll end up having to throw it all away when you want to restyle (while if you use separation of content from presentation all you might have to change is the CSS and MAYBE one or two DIV) - or god help you when you want to apply a certain visual effect and you cannot do so without endless hacks just because you don't even HAVE html, and instead have as many code errors as you do lines of code.

But some people want to sleaze out a site any old way without actually putting WORK into it. There's a reason it's called work and not 'happy happy fun time'... not willing to take the time to care that their layouts are broken (or I assume so since again, four different layouts in four different browsers), have little to no accessibility for people not using the magic combination of IE/Windows at 96dpi, or learn any of the practices that make up PROPER site development... or at least learn that **** like flash intro's, auto-playing music, long page loads and pages that are little more than a jumble of unorganized outbound links only serve to piss off potential users.

dreamweaver with new version is pretty good,and looks PRO.

 

I use textpad editor. Have try dw once but textpad much easier. Its also can highlight syntax. Support java, php, css..

Most of the time, I use notepad. Not even joking. I'll edit a alot of my CSS with a program called TopStyle, and sometimes I'll use Dreamweaver for designing... even though I have CS4, I don't us dreamweaver that often. I prefer hand-coding web pages.

I do all of my coding in notepad.

I use Paintshop Pro v5 (from a mag cover disc I got years ago ) for quick 'mock ups' and then start coding by hand from there.

There you go, a free Windows based suite! LOL!
