Web Design Site for Sale

Discussion in 'Sites' started by Peanut, Oct 24, 2006.

Hi I am putting up dolphindesign.co.uk up for sale, the reason for sale is that my business partner has decided to move abroard. I am also looking at pursuing a different career. The domain was registered in 1999 and currently has a PR of 4. It gets approximatly 10,000 unique visitors per month, and at the moment we normally get 2 - 4 website enquiries a month. Our current monthly income is approximatly £15,000 between the 2 of us, but obviously some of our income comes from word of mouth etc. We have not promoted the site for a while as we have had enough enquiries per month to keep us more than busy however we used to have excellent positions in the SERPs and i believe we are still 3rd for web design agency when searching the web on google.co.uk.

The website is currently hosted on fasthost and we can carry on hosting if you wish or we can transfer it for you.

Obviously this sale is aimed at the UK users, and we already have had a verbal offer of £1,000 from a former employee so i will set the reserve at that

I will end the auction at 12pm GMT on Thursday 26th October.

Bloody bargain! If all you said holds true, it would have been worth many times that amount.

Well it is, but dont forget that we have the design/programming skills to actually produce decent websites(well i like to think they are ok). If you are rubbish at design people are probably not going to be happy paying good money for the websites etc

if you have any questions ill am happy to asnwer them. The reserve was set for 1k because we already have had an offer of that on the site but feel its worth more. If your a good webdesigner and need a website that already generates enquiries then its a good buy. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be loads of web designers that are setting up by themselves and have the cash to blow on an established website. Most companies that have the cash to spend tend to already have an established website so not much use for our site.

yes, however as far as i am aware .co.uk domains hosted on a uk server will perform far better in the UK than searches from other countries

i am seriously interested in this, so i will ask more questions.
do you have any clients that you still maintain the websites for?
if yes, will the new owner get transfer of these customers?
could you send me traffic stats please.

I currently host quite a lot of our old clients, however they will not be transfered. A lot of my clients i have built up a relationship with and they are quite loyal to the hosting services we have provided. I also dont have set a guaranteed income like my business partner anymore and the regular income will be important to me.

The stats for last month (sept) are

    Total Sessions Served 9537
    Total Hits 117807
    Total Page Hits 12582
    Total Non Page Hits 105225
    Total Session Duration 560553s
    Total Transferred 604.27 MB

oh and i previously said i get 2 - 4 enquiries per month, it was meant to say per week. That is serious enquiries where we do a quote for the client. We normally do about 5 websites per month but that depends on how big each website is, sometimes they are tiny and we can have them done in 2-3 days others can take about 2 weeks or so. If you put time and effort into promoting the site you probably could increase that considerably but we had enough jobs coming in to keep us busy.

i offer all the small changes for free but if they wanted a complete overhaul of the site i would refer yourself. Again most of my current clients are quite loyal to myself and my business partner so they would probably require you to do a quote and prove how good you are etc
