Web Design Site (Constructive Criticism is Welcome)

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some constructive criticism on my new website geared toward teaching people who are new to web design the basics and helping them get on their way to creating websites. Please let me know what you think of www.codeitall.com

well, I like the site, but I think you have too much yellow on it.

 

Yellow? What yellow are you speaking of?

 

theres a giant blank space between your header and content

 

That's where a google ad is, maybe you have ad blockers.

 

-It loads fast which is good.
-The logo huge. To much space before reaching the content. If you remove the ads probably will look better, or make a smaller logo.
-The content is... fine. but need some work.

 

I've shrunk down the logo, thanks for the suggestion.

 

Its clean and simple, easy site navigation, page loads fast. I think you need more detail in your banner logo.. 3.5/5 .

 

By more detail in the logo what do you mean. I don't really like the idea of too much going on on the site that is not useful information.

 

Add a tag line, and remove the indents to start the paragraphs.

 

I think it good for a basic site.

 

Thanks for the ideas everyone. camp185, you think removing the indents is better? why? Also a tagline isn't a bad idea do you have anything in mind?

 

When you start a new paragraph <p> it creates a double line break. Indenting is then redundant.

 

In regards to your tag line, write a two sentence description of your site, then edit it and write a one sentence description. Then out of that one sentence, using only the most important keywords, write your tag line.

Why is everything centered?

Also, NEVER put ads on a site where you are selling something of your own. It looks unprofessional, and in a worst case scenario, will cause potential buyers to find a better offer than yours.

 

I like the site, but more colors can make it better.. too much white there
