Web Design Quetion (Shifting Text - Help will be rewarded with Reputation!!!)

I have a simple problem, but for me and my lack of web design skill it has been frustrating. Basically the text on my website keeps shifting and not staying where I've laid it out in Dreamweaver. I have attempted to use CSS, but that isn't working either.

    Details:
I'm trying to put a table (green in dreamweaver) with a background image in it (using CSS) then put a cell (blue) with text on it over that. The text will not stay where I wont though when I view it in a browser (explorer or firefox). Basically I need a clue concerning how to make the text stay where I want.

Thanks a million, I'm admittedly not a designer and have wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out. If I'm pointed in the right direction that would help tremendously, I'll give anyone rep points and my undieing gratitude! Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean by the text won't stay. But you can try to put something like

    <td valign="top"></td>

    Code (markup):
You can put top, middle or bottom. Or try...

    <td align="left"></td>

    Code (markup):
You can put left, middle or right...

You can even combine both together like this

    <td valign="top" align="left"></td>

    Code (markup):
    Hope this help

    can you post your code?

Unless the table is for data I would suggest doing it with divs. Much cleaner and easier to manipulate.

Hey, thanks guys. I guess I wasn't too clear about it. The cells are actually what move around. They move around on an image I placed behind them in a green outlined table (in dreamweaver) and the stuff I put in front of it is in a blue outlined "cell". I just want them to stay where I lay them! I do appreciate your help, i know others do it and I have been banging my head on my desk trying to figure it out.

So a div tag could lock the cell into place on a table?

    Thanks again!

I do understand the align part of it in the cell, but I need to get the cells to stay where they are supposed too. Not the text in the cells, sorry, i wasn't to clear on that.

    Thanks

Can you provide the coding you have done and a screenshot? Otherwise it is very hard to give you an answer.
