    Hi all,

    A question:

I would like to know about different web designers processes. How do you plan your website and layout? How do you choose your graphics? How do your communicate with your clients in the planning stage? What are your methods? .....

A pretty vague question - that could possibly cover quite a bit, I searched couldn't find anything on it so I thought I would post on it.

    Thanks guys.

    abcd1234,

I presume you're asking from the perspective of an adviser or consultant.

In which case its about establishing the online objectives of the client.

Do they have an online strategy?

    What is their business model?

    Who are they targeting?

    Do they have competitors?

What do they want prospective the audience to do once on the website?

    What's the outline budget?

Once you know all those things you can start talking design and technology.

I would advise not getting your clients to involved in the design process.

The risk is they will have you jumping through hoops changing this and changing that.

While your time and money is getting used up.

I think its just striking the balance.

    I agree!

When I work with clients during the design process, they usually demand so many changes.. (sometimes things that are impossible) until the end result of the project looks really ugly.. but beautiful in their opinion.

It is a huge waste of time and money

Thanks everyone for your opinions so far.

Question from the last two posts: how many rounds of design charges should you offer to your clients?

    Thanks,
