The more you use the internet these days, the more you notice that many sites don't look as great as they could. Web design isn't a difficult task, but a number of website owners don't pay enough attention to this particular area. That's why it's so important to have a website that is easy to use for visitors. This is going to keep your visitors coming back for more. Having a site that isn't designed very well only pushes visitors away. Here are a few things you should avoid when it comes to web design.

    Inadequate Navigation

When you go to a site, you want to be able to get around the website with ease. The last thing you want is a site that's not easy to use and requires you to look around for a long time to find what you are looking for. If your site isn't easy to use, people tend to go somewhere else. This is potential profit walking away from a poorly designed site. The better your site is setup the longer people stay on your site.

Having a Site That is Unclear

When you go to a website, you want to know what you are going to learn or find. Do you want to go to a site and wonder what you are looking at or where you are supposed to go? Each one of the pages that are on your site should be clear and you should be able to tell what each page entails. This is true especially when you have visitors that don't land on your home page. Each page should also link back to your home page.

    Pages That Are Too Long

You want to avoid long pages. Readers do not have time or the desire to scroll through pages that go on and on. Keep the pages and the information on them short and to the point. Don't make your readers scroll down unless there is something spectacular to offer below. This is a mistake that many people make in web design. Try to split up the pages and if you can't do this have easier content options that allow users to get around easier.

    Having Too Many Ads

The last thing you want to do is have too many ads on your page. Visitors aren't visiting your site to see ads. They want to see information and while these ads do help with earning income, they do distract your readers. If you are going to use ads in your web design, keep them concentrated and minimal. Keep the balance between your ads and content evened out.

    Having Outdated Information

One thing readers hate the most is information that is out of date. Keeping your site up to date is important since this is what keeps readers coming back and doing business with you. It also helps keep your site ranked high in search results. When it comes to effective web design you want to keep everything updated regularly.
