Hey I see on a lot of sites people request a website should be done with a "futurist" look, what exactly would that look like?

Also is possible for me to convert data from Invision Power Board to Vbulletin? If there are any guides on the internet can someone point me in the right direction?

Sorry if this may be posted in the wrong section I'm quite new around here.

    Thanks.

Well I can cover the vbulletin question. VBulletin provide impex (free of charge) which can covert from ipb. They have a guide for it on site. - www.vbulletin.com/docs/ (I think)

Hmm a futuristic look eh? Like stainless steel, sliding panals etc. I like forums that have an integrated portal myself, MKportal is nice, I belive it integrates with Vbulletin. It looks really good with SMF forums, as does TinyPortal. They both have alot of features, sliding menus, shoutbox, integrated chat, etc.

    Hi,

I just installed MkPortal on my site - the basic setup is a piece of cake and the integration with the forum of your choice is really good.

Where you have to be a careful is when you start adding the mods and hacks available from their site. A lot of them are not plug and play and involve several modifications to PHP files - the more you add the bigger the hole you may be digging yourself, if you're not careful.

The other thing that is tricky is setting the permissions correctly in mkportal as well as your forum. Since you can allow/dissalow just about anything it is easy to prevent 1 or more of your membergroups from accessing what should be public pages of your site. I sat wondering why no-one was looking at my weblink library until I registered a test account and noticed the link was only visible to the super-administrator (me!).

Having two CSS files can also cause problems as they sometimes conflict with each other.

Other than that I'd recommend it.

    Cheers,
    Charles
