Most people use web 2.0 sites to build sub-websites of their money website. Essentially what you are trying to do is create backlinks by setting up seperate websites on unique IP addresses. Many people will use these web 2.0 sites as review sites if they are selling products so that they can "presell" whatever it is they are selling.
Web 2.0 sites are interactive sites that gives the visitor more options other than reading the site's content (Web 1.0). These interactions are in the form of commenting, sharing files, posting your own content, etc... Some of the top web 2.0 sites: Youtube, Blogger, Flickr, Twitter, etc... Web 2.0 sites are very useful in SEO since these sites are loved by Google (some of which have very high PR) All web 2.0 sites allow the visitor to post or leave their own content thus giving them the opportunity to leave their backlinks.
My own use for web 2.0 is clearing some link juice. Imagine you got some low quality backlinks and a lot of them. If you send them to your money site it can get a penalty. So I backlink them to web 2 sites which back link to my main site. something like second tier web presence that directs your juice and "cleans" it. Best of luck.

Hi, Briefly speaking, web 2.0 sites would be more interactive than the tradition sites. Blogs, forums, social networking sites would all be calculated as web 2.0 exist. Comments or posts on web 2.0 sites would usually be promptly indexed since search engines like fresh contents.
