Web 2.0 sites, suitable for creating landing pages?

Ok, so I have been making all of my landing pages on squidoo. But thanks to their BS made up rules, lots of my lenses are getting locked, without any reason. I thought of moving on to hubpages, but they seem to place lots and lots of ads inbetween my modules. So, can someone share a web 2.0 website, with which they have been getting good results(high CTR and conversion). Thanks :)

Would probably recommend blogspot - purely because you can get almost full control now, even making just 1 page sites rather than traditional blogs if you turn pretty much everything off - this also means you are not losing clicks going to Squidoo's adverts / other lenses etc, seems to be the best option imo..

But I would still recommend getting your own domain and setting up a wordpress, i think in the long term your own domain is such an asset, and obviously you have total control over it, but it becomes a valuable piece of "internet real estate", if you have traffic going to it and it is profitable then it will acquire it's own value and you could even sell it if you wished.

If you can help it, don't ever host your stuff on another's property. Since your lenses are getting locked up, now would be a good time to make a fresh start. There's nothing worse than putting over a year's worth of work into your page, only to have it shutdown because of a recent rule change. Hopefully you made some money off of those lenses, and now you can afford a domain and hosting. If you're really that broke, at least try to get a .INFO domain (only like $1) or wait until GoDaddy does one of their $1 .COM coupons. A lot of hosts will give you the first month free or at a huge discount. When I first started out, I used to live from host to host for free until I could afford my own (or until my friend offered to host me ;)).

I'm not broke, in fact I'm pretty well off, during my first few months of IM I hosted my own sites, and had about 10 domains, when I switched to web 2.0 hosted ones, my conversion rate jumped about 6 times, plus I'm able to create a new landing page in about 10 minutes in order to test a new product. I was asking about good web 2.0 sites to host a landing page on. But thanks for the completely off-topic reply anyway..

I would say blogger or hubpages. You can turn off all the ads on hubpages if you don't want them displayed on your hub. If you want the ads displayed you can add your Google adsense ID and earn money from the ads. Not sure if you knew that or not.

I don't think he was tryin to be an ass and saying you're broke, but rather recommending that if you are short on cash to just buy a .info domain because they are cheap. He's right that you should always host your landing pages on your own sites for the reason that you spoke of in this thread. Why risk having all your hard work go to waste because the people at whatever web 2.0 site you use don't like your page? I've had lenses locked too and I don't even know why.

I understand it's quick and easy to do to just use a web 2.0 site, but so is self-hosted Wordpress. I can set everything up including all my plugins, theme, and the entire site in about an hour or 2. It would probably be a lot faster but I'm OCD about all my sites and I constantly tweak everything and read it over like 50 times before I publish it.

If you're set on using a free hosted blog or something though, go with Wordpress.com or Blogger. At least there's no ads getting in the way.

Yes I would set up a blogspot if you are going to use free methods because there is not too much "distraction" like adsense and so on (unless of course you choose to put it on there) - better still get a domain and hosting and stick a WP blog on there and collect email address.

blogpost is great for landing pages, however i use my own design for landing pages. anyway if you are looking for wordpress than you have to have your own domain because at the subdomains on wordpress dot com they dont allow affiliate link and will suspend your blog.
