(note: I'm mostly interested in usability and functionality feedback rather than design feedback. Though, if anything really rubs you the wrong way on the design front...)

I've personally invested (some time and a little money) in a little web 2.0 startup that is going to launch soon. Essentially, it's a snazzy tool to post an online profile/resume.

The site goes in a fairly non-standard direction. The "idea" was that resumes suck (both online and offline). In my last company (which is where the idea began), we generally got a few resumes in every week. When it came time to hire folks (or find a contractor for overflow work), I found it to be a major pain in the backside to hunt through 60-100 resumes to find the skillsets that I was looking for.

Sooo, we created a tool that allows for easy input of qualifications and easy searching through the professional profiles. Right now it's ONLY for one job type (Web Geek)-- we're in late alpha testing. Ultimately, we'll need to create qualifications framework for lots of other types of workers.

We also have a tool in the works that give the ability for other companies to create recruitment efforts using this as a platform. So, while our site focuses on the skills of web geeks, they can create a branded site that focuses on entirely different qualifications for an entirely different type of business.

Anyhoo, I'd love to get any feedback that folks have-- negative or positve.

    The home page is: http://www.gojobby.com

If you're a web geek, you can create a profile at http://www.gojobby.com/Jobby/Create/

If you're not a web geek and you'd like to try out the swanky Web 2.0 qualifications entry system you can do so at http://www.gojobby.com/Jobby/Skills/

If you'd like to check out the search interface, here is a sample search results page:
    http://www.gojobby.com/Jobby/?searc...hp&state=Search
(note: not a lot of profiles right now-- you guys are literally the first people we've told about this other than friends/family).

Soooo, feedback would be fabulous. And, given that we've got a pile of entrepreneuers here, feel free to ask about anything else (business model, development costs, etc).

As soon as I entered your site, I felt overwhelmed. I think there is a little too much text. Or maybe all the text is just too clumped together. I really think some white space would be beneficial.

And in your About us section, you say Jobby is a new way to think about online resumes... how is it new? It's all about searching and then filtering. what's so new about that?

Good point on the whitespace-- appreciate the feedback.

Well, searching and filtering isn't new. But Jobby uses AJAX to do realtime filters without page refreshes... There's no complex web forms, no submit buttons, etc.

On the resume building front, we've created a tag-based qualifications entry system (and allowed users to add new tags). I think it's pretty darn different... Of course, we still allow folks to upload resumes (to allow employers to get more detail on folks).

    Again, thanks for the feedback!
