I'm getting ready to redesign a several year old site that's using a different cms and I'm going to use Joomla, I think. The site is very active and has lots of regular members. I'de like to make the site as "web 2.0" as possible, with as much user contribution as can be created, and I think that this community is motivated to do that. So I would like to know your favorites or your recommendations for web 2.0 style plug-ins for Joomla. I'de specifically like to know about some things for p2p file sharing amongst registered users, a user contributed radio/podcast (they upload the mp3's, etc.), plugins which allow users to upload videos, a digg like plug in or voteable topsite plugin, etc. Here's what I'm planning to use at the moment: -Normal Joomla install SEO'd -Firboard Forums -Mamblogs for all users -Community Builder with a bunch of hacks (connections/friends, profile gallery, mp3 autoload on profiles, profile guestbook/comments, etc.) -Open Wiki -AdsManager classified ads -A postcard plugin -Profile Badge Plugin to create a profile badge which the user can put on their blog, website, myspace profile, etc. -Invite a friend -On demand translation of content And that's it at the moment I think. I would like to read a list of other peoples suggestions or favorites related to making Joomla more web 2.0
FireBoard is a very nice forum to your joomla website. Ofcourse, no need to mention that Community Builder is a MUST have for any Joomla website.
Yeah I am a huge fan of the community builder hack and all of the related stuff that's available for that. You can basically create a myspace clone with all of it, and integrate that into the other components that are available for Joomla, as well. Another thing that I noticed a long time ago is that if you use an older version of the jcal calendar, and if you're able to get those pages (maybe 365x1.5 or x2) indexed and you're running something like dp coop, it gives you a bit more weight. All in all I'm a big fan of Joomla in general. Back to the point though - what other social plug ins are available? I would be especially interested in a p2p file sharing plug in for all registered users (even if they had to download some client software), something that easily allowed users to submit mp3's and video, etc. plus any other ideas people might have. I'de prefer free plug ins, but commercial stuff that's really good is fine too.
