They told us we could help...even in little ways...by changing the light bulbs in our house. Then, when it was all over, they took off in their private jets and dumped tons of carbon into the atmosphere.

Took you awhile, but Congrats!:D (By the way, I say this quietly, but it should be "a Bachelor of Arts, not "an Bachelor of Arts". Consonant before a vowel or vowel sound, not another consonant; you know, third grade English, that kind of stuff).

You have missed the point, Tbarr, though others haven't. I could discuss it more, in the hope you might see how ridiculous your stand is, but it wouldn't land. That you really believe it matters what name is on your degree - that only if you hold a "masters in a 'hard' science" can you form an intelligent and informed opinion on this subject - speaks volumes about your limited mind. Why don't you take a poll, and ask how many folks here have a degree, or secondary degree, in whatever science you deem necessary in order to debate the subject?

By the same worldview, I would dismiss your political, philosophical, indeed, all non-scientific arguments, wholesale - without any consideration to your point of view, however credible or worthy of consideration. Sorry, buddy - I honestly pity you.

LOL...I guess you (northpointaiki) and tbarr60 can continue to flame each other back and forth if you TRY to sound intelligent. (There are no rules about pseudo-intelligent flaming.) It's pathetically amusing to watch you both try to get the upper hand in your argument. What a hoot!....LOL

I don't claim to have a degree in meteorology...but it is interesting that we are basing global warming on 150 years of actual data rather than the millions of years that the earth has been around...

You were absolutely right. There is nothing more ridiculous than blathering on in this way, particularly on the web, where the normal nuances afforded a conversation made in real life are missing. I hate it, but I watch myself do it, like an antic on my shoulder. It is a foolish thing to do.

    Ciao, all.

I figured out the bluff, it took a while and lots and lots and lots of words for you for you to actually state what degrees you had.

No poll needed, I just wanted to confirm an observation. Thanks.

This is a good summary of your approach. In the illegal alien debate there is your side. In the global warming debate there is your side. I guess we can agree that is every debate there is only one side, yours.

    Ciao.

So it continues. You really are dumb as a box of bricks.

Before crying a river: "waaaaaaaah! You aren't playing fair!" let's revisit your early post here, which you later admitted was directed at me:

In other words, you commit what you accuse me of, and moronically assume that simply because my view differs from yours, here as elsewhere, it must be because I somehow (a) unable to form a cogent thought, on the basis of the fact that one way I've provided for my family is by being a chef; (b) do not have the wherewithall to think on politics for myself, simply because I went to college. and, uh, listened to lectures (I guess this was your point?); and (c) I had "leftie" professors. I have tried to show, by specific points, where these presumptions were wrong.

I am always open to a spirited debate, so long as it's an honorable one. Point blank, you are an idiot, Tbarr. Since you brought it up again, revisiting your "illegal alien" debate, you represent the worst kind of small minded twit - you spend your days torturing day workers (by posing as immigre, wasn't it, watching them scatter as you pumped out something over your damned car loudspeaker?), like some kind of little, gutless prick who doesn't have the balls or the commonsense to live his life openly, standing by his convictions with a clear head and courageous heart. When called on it, you chose to PM me with your vitriol, making not so-well veiled threats and aspersions on where I lived (at the time).

Here, you paint your idiot's brush a swath of color that has no basis in reality; the opposite of "debate." As should be apparent to anyone here - my friend Gtech, Will, many others - I love being shown that I am wrong and freely admit when I am. I may not agree always, but I am open to honorable debate and actually treasure being shown something new. My comments to Lorien in this thread are illustrative in this regard.

And then you cry like a ninny that all I am interested in is "one side." Nothing could be further from the truth.

Alas, as Jim rightly pointed out, we are on a fool's errand. I do not need or want to prove anything to you. I do not want to engage in pointless debates with you. I don't enjoy being uncivil. Sincerely, peace, and best of luck.

Global warming is not a myth, it happened in past and it will happen in future. But the reasons given behind it are however.

and how do you know that?

the earth is warming FASTER , the climate is changing QUICKER then it has in most historic models.

Why would you think that there is no way massive increases of CO2 in the atmosphere might have something to do with it?

You re-create the same effect in a lab.
