@lime:Can you tell us the source of the traffic (who bought the hosting form your site).I guess its not organic/search traffic ,as your site will not be indexed in any search engine overnight.Even it is indexed ,it will not appear in first page results.Just think, all those who have bought hosting (from your site)are not waiting for you to bulild a site to buy hosting nor they are desperately searching for your site to buy hosting and that too only from Hostgator !!(Dont be suprised to know that you can buy Hostgator hosting with any VCC or paypal with $.01 for first month and cancel any time before you are billed for second time. This can be done 'n' times using proxies !)

Do you know you can create a paypal account using VCC .Paypal can do nothing to get your moneyback if its already withdrawn from account.

    Best of luck !

There actually is very little traffic on my site. I personally bought some uv's to increase alexa etc and that little traffic has caused my site on Anthony's server to swhut down because it exceeded bandwidth.(maybe a couple of hundfred uv a day)

There were 2 sales after 2 weeks time. But after three weeks he is short $100 of the $300 he promised. The traffic was so low that anthony generated that I'm really not sure where the sales came from. All the sales came from Host Gator.

As we speak I'm transfering the site to my server.

I didn't get slapped and banned by cj.com.

I had to file for a claim in PayPal as Anthony has stopped completely replying to mails. I waited all this time because I wanted to give him a chance to prove that he was truly trying to help us. The domain which he had built for me was never transferred to my name despite repeated requests to him. He had built the site www.web-service-review.com for me which I had informed here in my previous post.

This info was copied today dated Friday July 24,2009
    Domain Name : web-service-review.com
The data contained in GoDaddy.com, Inc.'s WhoIs database,
while believed by the company to be reliable, is provided "as is"
with no guarantee or warranties regarding its accuracy. This
information is provided for the sole purpose of assisting you
in obtaining information about domain name registration records.
Any use of this data for any other purpose is expressly forbidden without the prior written
permission of GoDaddy.com, Inc. By submitting an inquiry,
you agree to these terms of usage and limitations of warranty. In particular,
you agree not to use this data to allow, enable, or otherwise make possible,
dissemination or collection of this data, in part or in its entirety, for any
purpose, such as the transmission of unsolicited advertising and
and solicitations of any kind, including spam. You further agree
not to use this data to enable high volume, automated or robotic electronic
processes designed to collect or compile this data for any purpose,
including mining this data for your own personal or commercial purposes.

Please note: the registrant of the domain name is specified
in the "registrant" field. In most cases, GoDaddy.com, Inc.
is not the registrant of domain names listed in this database.

    Registrant:
    Anthony West

    Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
    Domain Name: WEB-SERVICE-REVIEW.COM

    Domain servers in listed order:
    ns713.websitewelcome.com
    ns714.websitewelcome.com

The last problem which I came across was that he did not provide me the login and password for the above website for which too I wrote to him repeatedly.

The present website(www.web-service-review.com) is not even showing the images in the banner section for which too I had written to him but to no avail.

I too have received a termination letter from Commission Junction and I am trying very hard to save my membership by being terminated. I have written several emails to CJ and the latest reply that I received from them is given below:

    "Hello

Thank you for submitting this information. Can you please explain what kind of services did you buy from who. We do know that you belong to a group of publishers scammed by someone but we are trying to get to the bottom of it. Please provide us with as much as possible information regarding your affiliation to this group. Looking forward to resolving this issue

    Sincerely,

    Publisher Support
    ------------------------------------
Commission Junction, a ValueClick company "

Before posting here too I had sent a mail to Anthony stating the above mail as I did not want to place him in any trouble with the CJ people. But he did not reply to that too.

I am trying my level best to retain my membership with the CJ .... I have written them several emails and I am hoping that they will surely think again in terminating my membership.

    Guys,

He builds sites, sets up HostGator hosting affiliate sales on it, then buys enough hosting to make you $100. Eventually either his cc will be denied or he will return the hosting that he bought for a refund.

This was a SCAM. All of you that bought it will loose your money. Even you who think you made money will find out later that it will be charged back.

We are getting so greedy that we cant see the forest for the trees IMHO.

I have tried to warn everyone about this scam.I have have told every one PMd me ,about the BH technique this guy is using to con people.

A WORD ON PAYPAL BUYER PROTECTION(Those who think Paypal really has excellent Buyer Protection !!)
This is a lie. First PayPal makes it impossible for most people to qualify for the "buyer protection." It is a bait and switch routine. They advertise a great program, then make it impossible to qualify for.

Second, PayPal says in its User Agreement "We reimburse Users for losses only to the extent we are able to recover the funds from sellers."

Yup, even if you are somehow able to qualify for the buyer "protection," it is almost without meaning. PayPal says their ability to offer them any kind of protection is only to the extent that PayPal can get the money back from the seller! The seller drains his account, no money for the buyer. And no money from PayPal to the buyer! Sound "excellent" to you?

There's more: PayPal, again if you qualify for "top tier" coverage, covers your losses up to $2,000 (only with eBay transactions). If you manage to qualify for the "basic tier" coverage, you only get covered for up to $200 (on eBay and qualified items purchased outside of eBay).

There's other stuff PayPal won't cover either: "These programs only cover payments for tangible, physical goods. All other payments, such as payments for intangibles, services, airline flight tickets, or licenses and other access to digital content are not covered by any Buyer Protection Program that we offer."

What is funny about that is this: In other advertising PayPal claims its service is PERFECT to buy and sell non-tangible services! PayPal markets its service for all service related industries (like web design, legal, airline, tickets, etc) -- with the promise of PayPal's "excellent" buyer and seller protection.

I do not wish to be associated with this 'scam' claim in any way.
My site does very well in the SERPS, gets organic traffic, and generates revenue through both AdSense and CJ.

I am sorry that some of you are not satisfied with the work Anthony has done, but besides the crappy communication I can't really complain.

He actually did well in the beginning. But got desperate as too many people applied for the project :) He does have skills actually if he puts it to good use. That's why u were successful Luxuria. Anyway, he's gone from the scene and will not return I believe. I've got back my cash, so I have no problems. Besides, it was just $100, so I gave it a shot. For if I lose it too, it wouldn't have been that big of a loss.

    @Luxuria/Lime:
What were the sources of traffic for your sites? If you're concerned, feel free to PM me too. I think that will be the biggest factor in deciding if this is really legit or now.

But were there any real sites where actual human visitors would have come from to make the purchases? If they're just robots and ping sites, then it's obviously the VCC scam. Are there any other sites sending real traffic?

When people like this stop taking advantage of others :)
Still, not everyone is a cheater. Providing his techniques were excellent, this could really actually work. Say, if he had the skills to drive very high quality traffic in bulk by investing in the right places, this thing could be legit. In fact, I have a client who does business like this and helps me too. We earn very well - and honestly :) I also joint this guy because I wanted to know what was his skills to drive the traffic. He was supposed to teach too, but before it could happen, it turned into a tragedy. Otherwise, I would just apply his skills in the current SEO stuff we're already doing. Knowledge was the main target indeed :) Besides, if you can take your precautions well, then its really hard to cheat you too. We all here mostly are already pioneers with the internet anyway. These scams are old skool and we already know how to handle them. So next time maybe Anthony should play big time and figure out better ways of scamming which will put people in deeper trouble..lol..Too bad..

I'm still happy though..I got myself a really nice domain name actually..I can put it to good use :D

^^ as long as your ok then, what about the others. Fiona45 has had no domain name transfer.

I think everyone who posted positive reviews should all apologise. It was on these reviews other people invested and got scammed. your still happy about it. dang.

Also you say u got your cash back, how? a private deal with the scammer?

Wow.. I read the first like 8 pages of this thread... every post.. and followed the reviews and everything.. I thought it sounded so good.. until i got tired of reading and went to the last page.. and found out it was a scam and too good to be true :( I was going to ask why were the payouts exactly $300 and exactly $500 and no cents or anything. I think that is uncommon. Oh well. :( sad scam.
