January was bad, February's started as my lowest earning day of the last 2 years. I dont know whats ahead but I think this is the time we should take other networks seriously.

The main reason for the drop in ctr is the lack of liquid in the market. Its back to Old School, "Save Money Trend".

Having multiple income sources will make or break some blogs. I have some direct advertising, ad networks, Adsense, and affiliate ads. For the past couple of months, I'm seeing an increase in blog income.

Adsense is my biggest earner right now.

Not 100% correct. The drop in CTR occurs because there are less advertisers available. Less ads means less relevancy.

Some companies are bankrupt or need to save money that's why they no longer invest in AdWords and that might damage the whole system.

That's definitely good. The direct advertisers are the key for most money. However, they require you to have a niche-site.

I had my best month ever last month, the credit crunch does not seem to be effecting my site badly at all. The weak pound has helped me a lot though as I am paid in US$

If I got paid $200 last year it was worth £100

Now if I get paid $200 it is worth £140

January was nearly a record month in Adsense earnings. As said above, reason could be strict niche sites which is what I have.

i`m read all over the place same and same things , so far two things can be different since let say 4-5 months ago , I noticed also some low clicks is true but on established domains ( well - really well ranking on google search ) ... I just made a test ( within two weeks ) and I forward one of my old domains who's getting traffic about games niche on one new site ( with ad sense inside of one article ) .. funny thing is getting clicks and payouts really nice :D ... stopped the forward after two weeks and I leave the old domain like was before ... guess what , same low clicks and payouts like before . This is not normal :D I think there are some scripts paying more for new sites :D to attract more folks around on this game ...

The question is whether your CTR or CPC decreased? You are benefiting from the better exchange rate. Was it just the traffic that changed?

As said above, did your traffic increase? What about your CTR and CPC?

Could be yes. That would make sure that they have enough publishers which then consequently increases the advertiser's ROI as well.

All this doom and gloom really makes me PMSL! The key to making money with Adsense is nothing more than getting plenty of targeted traffic. Increasing your traffic will counteract many of the problems that some people are seeing with bid prices dropping. Get more clicks! My last 3 months with Adsense has been my best ever (and I've been using it a long time). With Adsense certain elements are out of our control (like the PPC we get paid from Google) BUT there are certain things we can influence such as improving our number of impressions.

Of course targeted traffic is the key. That's why it's also important to make niche websites.

But when your earnings drop from 200 to 100$ per day than that's an issue.

"We are screwed - financial crisis and AdSense"

If the situation is that bad then work harder and try to get more impressions and clicks. Simple.

We shouldn't blame google on this. They also felt the impact of financial crisis.

The financial crisis means that more companies will shift advertising online, where it's relatively cheaper. Companies can't stop advertising or they'll die.

I think it is too general to say that CTR and CPC are falling by reason of the economic crisis. In every crisis, there are golden opportunities to be made. My CTR and CPC have increased in January to my delight in certain sites of mine.

Your test seems to give credibility to my suspicisions that google is limiting the income that old publishers might be making. Few months back I was making a certain amount with adsense when I decided to work on my site to attract more traffic. As traffic to my site increased with more clicks earning increased, but slowly the CPM started dropping to bring my total earning back to previous levels.

also like a test ( within 3 weeks ) , two different sites ( actually different hosting accounts / data centers / everything different , just same niche / same theme on the blog used ... :) - quite different the content but most like same scheme of content ) ... suppose all of you read loads of things about placement , which type of ads are performing better , and other things .. well ... I put on blogs 1 single ad ( 300X250 ) one of them I leave it default ( text and images ) other one I forced only images to be ... guess what ... ctr / ecpm and in the final the revenue from default one its far away better than first one . Even if everywhere was said on image only ads competition is higher and payouts are better , its totally false . Its hard to believe the dogs from G will allow million of folks to get higher piece of pies so easy , its also hard to believe peoples who found really nice paid niches will share them , everything is about to test eachone to see what's best for you , what's easy for you to do and so on ... adsense is still good , I proved myself can bring revenue if had some time to spend reading all the things needed , to understand how and what's works . Even with that none can guarantee there can be really results without effort
