You got that right. Some people would have panicked and stressed themselves to death fearing the end of the world in 2012.
Speaking of Y2K - I have a funny story. I was in the US Army at the time and military made us catalog every piece of equipment to make sure it was Y2K compliant, even the mechanical scales and glass thermometers. More proof of the ignorance of American leadership. As far as 2012, I did here about 10 years ago that a comet was in the direct path with the earth and would strike us December 2012. I don't know how true it is. What you have to be careful of is some idiot out there scheming to create chaos on that date like in the movie "Fight Club".

I seen a fireball fall from the sky on 6-6-06 here in minnesota when traveling south bound on highway 61! I truely believe that dates are significant and prophecies can hold true. if you think about it at the rate we are evolving something so huge could happen by 2012 that the chance of the world ending on that day could be a lot higher then we think. Maybe if the world doesn't end by then we would have a "mass reset" of the way everyone lives or maybe by then satan will have fully manifested this earth and god will return to banish him. well anyway thanks for reading my opinion to a question that can not be answered until the future.
I'm also aware of this.. they say that the Mayan calendar(from old civilization) will reset in 2012..
I have seen this thread over and over again. Personally I don't think that the world will be destroyed on that because none could predict the exact time and date. I think that we should prepare for the worse and hope for the best. A good suggestion from a wise man.
I remember 9 years ago it was said like earth will end on 2000 and few months ago it was told that earth will end tomorrow and all that bull shits... Remember earth may go down any time now while writing this reply or while you sleep anytime... I think it wont be a problem as everyone will go to a new place
