While I appreciate the fun of turning to the Mayans for this bit of apocalyptic tripe, it is no more valid than Bishop Usher's determination of the day the world began and no more valid than the mumbo-jumbo promulgated by any of the big three monotheisms. It is all superstitious nonsense!

I came across something about the origins of this recently. It's got something to do with the Sun's placement in the heavens: Galactic Center alignment with our Sun - only happens once every 30,000 years or so and 2012 is supposedly when it will happen again; and the little-known 13th House of the Zodiac, Ophiuchus.

It's always like this - the world would be doomed in 1996... the world would be doomed in the year 2000... it's always happen in history of mankind - and proved wrong. It it finally true this time?

IMHO, you can die any seconds, anyway - perhaps this second, this hour, tomorrow, or next week? - expect the unexpected - the question: are you prepared yourself well facing the unexpected?

Don't bother doomsday - be thankful for every day you open your eyes and live your life to the fullest.

I don't believe it. Still remember the whole Y2K thing a long time ago. Nothing happened and my school was cancelled because of that too. Kind of crazy.

But if it does happen, then there's nothing we can do.

I really don't think the universe will end on 12-21-2012. If anything, lots of people will die. But I believe if Jesus doesn't even know when the world will end, then some Mayans definately don't know. Who knows? Perhaps they just decided that they didn't need to make their calender go any further?

I think if everyone starts to think the world will end, then people will start making bad decisions. 2065 is a much better prediction IMO, but I'd rather not think about it.
