I very much doubt it there are several theories and dates for when the world is suddenly going to come to an end it is like saying on 8th December 2008 i am going to win the national lottery the date will more than likely come and go peacefully.
2012 will not be the end of the world, but it will be the end of the world as we know it. Attitudes will shift, egos will disappear, people will need to become one with the earth......if you know this, then you know what i mean. Magnetic shifts in The Earths axis will change peoples perceptions, they will be come more insync with nature & they will begin to see things as they really are. We are all one, people, animals, the Earth.....this needs to be understood, learned, and seen or you are gong to suffer ......2012 is just the beginning of the new golden age. The ancient civilizations predicted all this with their knowledge of astronomy and astrology......it's all out there.....you just have to relax and see.
Something major will have to happen if the above becomes reality. I mean, egos disappearing and the world becoming one won't happen even if 10 911's occur within a month. I really don't know what would be needed to accomplish this.
Care to let us know what could provoke this sudden 'world love'? Although I can 'think deeper', I don't see humanity changing drastically like that in only 4 years time. A new drug or a friendly specie from another galaxy?
If I knew I could tell you, but I can assure you it's not death and destruction. We already have enough of that. Maybe not in 4 years time, but eventually...or else we're all going to die.
To simplify, we’ll be flying in spacecrafts and finally communicating with other civilizations, the world will face bad weather events, but it isn’t the end, extraterrestrial will intervene and not allow humanity to destroy earth. They’ve been trying to negotiate with our selfish world leaders all this time, that’s the reason for their visitations. They will interrupt and revert the world back into spiritual civilizations like the Mayans, Egyptians, Atlantians, etc. SOME of us will be leaving to go to the fifth dimension, some of us will have to start all over again on another third dimension planet because we’re aren’t ready to play with the big boys, be prepared. The government understands this, and luckily there is nothing they can do about it, this is the one thing they have no control over. Something WILL happen, but no the world will not cease. We will be VERY advanced after all is said and done, even Einstein is betting on 2012, if so much greatness are betting on it, why not be convinced they’re onto something? I’ll accept it, but if nothing happens, I’ll turn my TV off the next time some hyped up revelation is going around!
Why are we so fascinated about knowing when we will die or the world will end for the matter? We all die one day. Many have perished before us. Many are dying around the world as we speak and many will die the day after today and so on. But then again we are the species known as Men. Always wanting to know. Well there is truth in the sayings; Knowledge is Power and Ignorance is Bliss. Why can't we accept the fact that we cannot guarantee anything? Who will win the F1 race this season and by how many points? Who will be the next American president and by what margin? Yes, we predict but can we guarantee it? Heck the answers to the questions above will not even reach 2012 yet. Yet, the most philosophical predictor will not be able to tell. But there are signs for those who think... Find out where we come from, what are doing here and where will we go next. The answer lies deep within.

I have seen a few documentaries on TV about this topic but I do not believe it. Man cannot predict when this world will end only god knows.
