Nah! it's all wrong!! In 2012 my cyber goats will take over the world and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I have no control over them now. They started up their own company last year called Cyber Star Media and never looked back. But I can see what they are up to. I left them to do grunt work on old PC's in a tin shed. Now they work in comfort in air-conditioned offices with large desks, personal secretaries and they all drive BMW's!!! It's inevitable. Run to the hills before it's too late and the surface of the earth is turned into Goat City with nothing but mountains, vegetables and lots of grass!!!
Yes and no. Death is unfortunately something that happens everyday. In fact, statistics show that every minute, somewhere someone is being killed or has died. So it is quite possible we could die on December 21, 2012? But then, its quite possible we could die well before then. Frankly, neither alternative leaves me with any warm and fuzzies. So perhaps the best thing to do, as stated by others above, is live in the here and now.
Oh yeah, remember everyone was going to die at the end of 1999? I don't know why people worry about this stuff!

They been expecting this on many previous occasions in history according to the prophecies of Nostradamus and many other religions, cults etc. Nothing is going to happen. Life will be same as usual unless some crack head gets hold of nuclear bombs and do some thing really really stupid. Or a meteor strikes as happened with the dinosaurs or some thing. But the chances of that happening is very very rare.
Nothing we can really do about it, just enjoy and cherish the precious time with our beloved one, if this day really come...
