What are good ways to give out a free e-book and increase mailing lists subscribers? Free classifieds, free sections....ie craigslist and submitting articles. Any other ways?
free press releases, free radio broadcasting and commenting on other blogs( slow but very much successful) etc... Anyone like to add some more here.
you can go a step further and give a money prize for one of those subscribers.or if ebooks are really good you can give it to a prominent blogger and he give it on his blog and mentions your website and mailing list.

Do you think it's better to have this freebie ..for example a free report or e-book focused on the affiliate product? Or is it generally about the topic? ie I'm promoting a weight loss product, is the report a resource about this product, or about weight loss in general?
Id go General but like a funnel .. Suck the reader in and near the end start pushing slowly... Kind of like having a baby I suppose
