Hi, I have a website where I'm offering a free newsletter subscription to help people find money saving deals, money saving tips, and even free stuff. The site is http://www.dreamlinesavings.com, if it helps with giving me ideas for marketing. Everyone that is already signed up loves it, so I know it's a good newsletter. I just can't seem to find ways to get the word out about it to get new subscribers... I have seen all of the ways to get traffic from digg/fark/etc... but the people I am looking for would not be on any of those sites. I don't want the people who spend hours on fatwallet/slickdeals etc, since they can find their own deals and ways to save, but I want to make things easier for the casual internet user who spends a little bit of time online, and wants things to be easier for them. I already have a few articles out there, am using adsense as well as yahoo, and am telling people I know or meet about it. Anyone have any other ideas how I can get the word out? I don't want to spend a lot as it's a free newsletter, so I'd prefer free methods. Thanks so much! Jessica
Have you thought about offline advertising? Leaflets, newspapers & magazines. It can be cheap and reach your non-techies, further when you advertise deals offline and offer to save people money they can be more receptive and less suspicious than normal online techies. If you want to brand yourself it will cost money.
DPs coop network should help. I'd also search for related sites/newsletters to cross-promote with. Finally, I'd search for your keywords to find sites to add links to (increase your SEO efforts and hopefully drive more traffic). You can write articles with your link in the footer to drive traffic, too. I'd start with searchwarp but there are plenty of places to submit articles. Oh... See if you can get some testimonials to add to your site as well. It's the second best form of advertising.
Jessica, Have you seen this thread? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=62009 (sorry I can't make the link live yet). There are hundreds of places to promote your site. Also, have you thought of asking your loyal subscribers to recommend your newsletter to their friends, or lists (if they have one)? Hope this helps
