Ways to get around the .eu restrictions?

    So heres the deal...

    Yesterday I figured I would try to reg some .eu's even though I live in the U.S.
    I talked to my buddy in the UK and asked him to use his addy and phone numer. So now I have five .eu's regged or "pending" anyway.

    I looked everywhere but never found how long it will take before they come live. It just says "pending" for the past 24hours. Do they have to call my buddies house and verify the addy and whatnot or what?

    All the GOOD domains were gone but I did pick up some goodies that will get type-in without a doubt.

    What I have done seems to be a little shady, I know. I couldnt help myself, I didnt buy anything that I dont plan on developing, everything I bought are domains in the same niche and that I will be developing ASAP. So a squatter I am not! :)

    I am afraid to tell you that you have not registered them yet.
    You will have to wait to 7-Apr till the landrush starts, otherwise you would need to go through sunrise period with all legal requirements.

    But it said that it's open to all people who live in the .eu right now.
    They can be regged at godaddy.com now

    Who can register a .EU domain?

    To register a .EU domain name, you must fall under one of the following criteria:

    a. Have your registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
    b. Have an organization established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law;
    c. Be a resident within the European Community.

    This is the final stage, on April 7th everyone can register them. I *THINK* I should get these, I'm just waiting and praying.

    You did NOT read the fine print on the bottom of the page ( tiny little * in the top banner... )
    They are pre-registered, but lots of other registrars probably have pre-registrations for "your" domains too.

    Note: Pre-registration Applications will be submitted on a First-Come First-Served based when the registry opens for general registrations in the first quarter of 2006 (subject to change).
