Personally, I hate Twitter. Any spammer can follow you - and I get spammed all the time. FB - you have to approve your "friends" into your network. I don't get spammed that much in FB.
They are doing their best to control spam. From last week they are blocking every viral method of spamming. And they giving weight to user profiles at backend, to rate users and classify them as spammers or not. Tweets from a spammed profile will not be visible in search results and will not get indexed. They are looking at every user actions and its improving the quality of tweets now. I love twitter because they bring a lot of traffic to my sites. The best thing is its targetted traffic.
I kind of agree with jasonleon, since it's know that you can generate revenues with twitter, the quality has dropped a lot! Full of spammers, people who just promote their affiliate links... I like twitter in the beginning, but i think the way it's being used is actually killing twitter, only time will tell. I think something similar, but with better quality control will come along soon! My opinion!
Twitter is alright for traffic but I haven't earned anything from that traffic so far. I use it anyway.
I agreed that twitter traffic will not fetch you enough revenue that you might expect. But consider the fact that the reader that comes to your site is targeted. They will subscribe to your feeds, they will read your articles and will increase your ranking. I think its more important that revenue.
I've looked through the article and can agree that it's entertaining but for a short period of time. As for me I've played this game for 2 weeks and stopped as it became really boring...
I do agree that its boring, but it just takes a minute to tweet. Add a plugin tweetmeme to your site. It will help you a lot, to post tweets and it gives your reader an easy way to retweet.
I find that you have to spend great amounts of time w/ Twitter but once done Twitter is a great help for great traffic....try to mix it up and don't become boring and the community will love you....
Sure we all hate the spammers, but you know it is just like internet marketing is some make a lot of money and then everybody tries to repeat that process but most fail and end up as spammers ... .
