Hi all... I am trying to educate myself regularly and have signed up to use lynda.com. So here is the scoop. I sit in front of a computer all day at work and would love to use some of my down time to be able to further advance my skills with lynda.com's tutorials. Problem is, quicktime is not installed on my computer at work and because I work for a very LARGE company, they have put some pretty hefty policies on the computers. I can not install quicktime because I do not have admin rights on my machine (windows xp). When I made a request to have it installed for educational purposes, it was met with resistance since I am not actually enrolled in a school (they know I have my degree already and asked questions since I said it was for educational purposes). When I pointed out it was for computer training, they told me I needed to do that on my own time. Anyway...question is this. Is there any other programs that can open up apple quicktime movies (.mov) that do not require me to have admin rights to my machine? Is there a way around installing quicktime without needing admin rights on the local machine? I have search google and found some quicktime alternatives, but they seem to still require admin rights to install them. I have installed some software on the machine before without admin rights...but nothing like these programs. I have contacted lynda.com to ask them but they said .mov was the only way they allow the online training membership tutorials to be viewed. The CD version would be an option, but more expensive and with less flexibility to move from one subject to the next quickly and easily. Any thoughts or ideas? I have a lot of downtime at work and rather than surfing the net like most of my work buddies, I would rather educated myself further. I would sure appreciate any advice anyone could give me in that regard. You guys and gals are great with helpful advise most of the time, and I figured the more brains trying to figure out a solution the better. Thanks in advance for any and all info you can come up with that might help out. Marketing
