Hello all.. never ventured to this area before...

Just a General question as you see from Title..
Can you drink the water in the area you live?
    Tell you why I ask..

    I live in Galway , Ireland.. ( Isle Of Saints,Scholars and Alchoholics ! :) )
Up until a few weeks ago , you could drink from the tap and you wouldnt have any chance of doing yourself damage unless there was a wild animal attached to it..

But we now live in fear of a little ameoba type creature called cryptosporidium... see news

Symptoms are tummy and rear related... need I say more..

Our Local council now tell us they have known about this for months ( Sideline rant - Does anyone believe anything Politicians tell them??) and they also have a grant of 20 Million plus under the table and the Government gave them loads more to resolve problem... But of course they only react when 200 people plus get infected....

Anyway.. Im sure lots of people here just cant drink from Tap.. But im just asking the question... If I figure out how to use the Poll Feature Ill throw one of them together...

Anyway.... Enough ranting.. Thanks for your time!

p.s. I dont want any weirdos PM'ing me asking if I got the bug... I did...

I'm from the US, and we have very strict laws about our water supplies and suppliers...so most of us have no fear of drinking the tap...

though...i will mention that our rules just say to make it safe to drink...though i've lived in a few places where if you poured a cup of water and let it sit for a day or two...it got crusty on the top...to me that would be an issue, lol...

but where I am currently I have no problem at all with the water

Yep, the water where I am in the UK is drinkable. However, when I went to the italian mountains on a ski holday the water wasn't safe, you'd think it would be really being in the mountains. When I went to Austria on another ski holiday the water was freezing cold and safe to drink, yum.
