    Hi,

I see that there are tons of sites and blogs that embedding megavideo code and then you can watch movies\episoides from megavideo servers on the site.

Is that legal thing to do? (my thought that it is , just like embedding code from youtube).

Here in germany you can do it when you mention that you not uploaded the movies or episodes and that you just redirect to this sites.

Be the uploader or be a poster are two different parts and I cannot see any illegal in posting links to movies.

Correct me if Im wrong but I think that embedding movies or episodes is nothing illegal when you dont uploaded it on your own.

Embedding youtube or "megavideo" (whatever that is but I assume it is similar to youtube) in itself is not an issue if they are giving you the code to allow you to do it in the same way that youtube does.

Helping the sharing of material that infringes copyright is an issue irrespective of if your hosting the material yourself or not.

i think a DMCA or TOS page decreases the chances of your hosting account getting banned! my friend runs a warez sites and he receives DMCA every day :D

It varies from country to country, just place some kind of a legal agreement and you'll be okay.

it's not an issue, unless you are hosting the videos

Wrong. Don't post in the legal section when you don't have a clue. AstarothSolutions and Skwerl already posted good answers.

Just three days ago, Federal prosecutors in New York and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents seized the domains of 10 websites that allegedly provided links to other websites which in turn provided live, streaming events by the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, WWE and UFC. Several of the sites were reportedly not based in the United States.

Anyone who thinks that sites are OK because they are not hosting the copyrighted material obviously doesn't bother to read the news.

It is legal to embed links from thirdparty sites, as long as their sites allow you to copy links....

Not if is copyright infringing material. That's like asking if it is legal to buy a car - it depends on if you are buying it from the legal owner or a person who stole it. If you embed links to material that was uploaded without permission from the owner, you are liable. If you aren't sure if it is the legal owner, don't embed the link.
