Does anyone know if its illegal in Canada? Sites that link to video hosting sites, like the one in my signature.

Since you dont host any files the only trouble you should have is the idividual companies asking you to take down their work.

Actually it is illegal. Canada and America have a very strong connection, Canada's Movie Industry is heavily rooted in Hollywood. Downloading pirated goods is illegal but not deemed punishable, at least not for music (a Canadian ruling designated that music piracy would not result in punishment).

However note that piracy is still illegal in Canada and while end users are somewhat protected from the ruling (mostly applies to music piracy), distributors or those helping in the distribution (which includes posting/sharing links) are still considered liable to piracy charges. So running a movie/tvlink type site is technically illegal, and movie piracy makes it all the more dangerous because I've heard Astral Media (which is like the Canadian equivalent of our Paramount Pictures) is actively scouting for movie piracy and lobbying for stricter penalties. It's why net neutrality should be a bigger issue up North.

Actually I believe in Canada even linking to a site is legal, similarly to UK.

no it's illegal even if you only link to it, tv-links.co.uk as sp360 mentioned was based in the uk and the owner was arrested, no word as to what happened to him - I think they wanted to make an example of him. So yes it's illegal even a forum, where you don't actually upload or host it - but just post links. It's the same with warez sites, linking to it is still considered illegal.
